Reports reaching Legit.ng claim that an unidentified woman set the statue of Virgin Mary ablaze at St. Jacob’s Parish, Orba in Enugu State.
It was gathered that the angry woman stormed the church premises with a gallon of petrol, waited till after morning mass, found her way to the Virgin Mary Grotto and proceeded to set it ablaze. The flames attracted church members who gathered to stop the fire and apprehend the culprit.
The unidentified lady is reportedly being currently interrogated over the reason for her cause of action. The photos of the statue are however making waves online with most Catholics bewildered that anyone would disrespect the symbol of the Virgin Mary in such manner.
